Richard Frey Obituary

Richard S. Frey

Richard S. Frey, 86, of Palmerton, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, in his home with loving family at his side. He was the husband of Barbara (Petkus) Frey. They were married 66 years last April.

He graduated from Ss. Peter & Paul School, Lehighton, in 1952 and Lehighton High School in 1956.

Richard then served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-60 as a radar mechanic on B-47 and B-52 bombers.

He first worked as an auto mechanic for Roberts Atlantic Service Station for 10 years, then became a forklift mechanic for 24 years at Kraft Foods until retiring in 1996.

Richard was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Palmerton.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Marlin and Helen (Wilk) Frey.

Survivors: Wife; sons Robert and wife Lisa, Ronald and wife Tanya; grandchildren Amanda and husband Kris Kromer, Alex, Nick; Elizabeth and husband Drew Spece, Alyssa Acker and Shaynie Acker; great-grandchildren Ethan, Julia, Calvin and Rowan Kromer; Ellie and Carter Frey; Gunnar, Gracelynn and Gideon Spece; sister Carole and husband Gary Lipics; brother Joseph; five nieces and five nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Diane Cunningham.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, in the church, 243 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

Richard, you have made your final flight into the wild blue yonder´s. You are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow veteran. The final battle is now over and peace has been restored.
