Robert Bottcher Jr.

Robert "Bobby" Bottcher Jr., 85, of Lehighton, East Penn Township, died suddenly and peacefully early Saturday afternoon, Aug. 10, 2024, at The Palmerton Personal Care Home, Carbon County. He was the husband of Linda N. (Ashner) Bottcher since Feb. 25, 1961.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he was a son of the late Robert Sr. and Helen M. (Angelovich) Bottcher.

Robert was employed as a service engineer for Mack Trucks Corp., Allentown and Macungie plants, for over 23 years, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of Faith Alive United Methodist Church, Palmerton.

A 1957 graduate of the Lehighton High School, he later served in the PA Army National Guard, Berlin Crisis, in Louisiana, achieving the rank of PVT (E-2).

A well-known race car driver, "Bobby" was inducted into the Modified Dirt Racing Hall of Fame after 26 years of participation throughout the Northeast United States Circuit.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Robin L. Bottcher of Cape Coral, FL; a son, Steven R., and his wife, Donna, of Lehighton; granddaughters, Stevianne and Christi; a brother, Richard S., and his wife, Linda, of Palmerton; a brother-in-law, Greg Whiteman of East Penn Township; and nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by a sister Roberta.

Service: Memorial service 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, Faith Alive UMC, 678 Pine St., Palmerton. Interment with military honors, Franklin Heights Memorial Park, E. Weissport. Call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday in the church. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Lehighton. Online condolences can be offered at www.schislerfuneralhomes.com.

Bob was a great guy, I very much enjoyed getting to know him when he was at The Palmerton, we talked about nascar often, and he always loved racing, you´ll be missed by many! Deepest condolences to his family and friends! God bless you, and rest easy!
