Robert Roos Obituary
Robert R. "Bob" Roos, 89, of Jim Thorpe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, in his home.
He was a son of the late Hugo O. and Caroline (Ferrence) Roos of Hacklebernie.
Surviving are his children, Robert W. Roos, and his wife, Maryellen, of Allentown, David S. Roos, and his wife, Sheryl of Nashville, Tennessee, Kim M. Walck of Nesquehoning and Frank A. Roos, and his wife, Michelle, and Kristin A., wife of Kenny Meckes, both of Jim Thorpe; grandchildren, Laura, Lisa, Jonathan, Aubrey, Robert, Ashley, Ashtin, David, Daniel, Jamie, Cheyenne and Cody; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Chloe, Bella, Grayson, Griffin, Lincoln, Riley and Theodore; and a sister, Schelene Fritzinger, and her companion, Eric Schaner, of Slatington.
He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dorothea M. (Gilbert) Roos; and siblings, Rosalene Roos, Agnes Smith, David Roos, John Roos, Caroline Reichert and Helen Marzen.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 180 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe. Interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Public viewing 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe. Arrangements by Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Harrisburg. We were so sorry to hear of Bobs passing. He was a great old guy. We talked a few times about the old family and what they went through so many years ago.
He enjoyed showing us all the renovations he did to the house. We are related on the Gilbert side through marriage.

Sending sincere sympathies to the Roos family. I was just thinking that Bob is the last of the original "Hacklebernians" that was living. Many memories with a good family, may God give you all peace and strength through the hard times. He lived a good life, and now he's with other family members, who were waiting for him.

Uncle Bob, like his brother John, always seemed to have an upbeat, positive attitude. He was so pleasant to be around. He had such a remarkable grin that showed that the world wouldn't "get him down." He was such a breath of fresh air. I felt so safe when he was around. He made a difference.
