Ruth Gerber

Ruth M. Gerber, 88, of Walker Township, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, in Orwigsburg. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles D. Gerber, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2019.

Born in Walker Township, Ruth was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Helen (Leiby) Dunn.

She was a 1954 graduate of Cressona High School and spent many years working as both a waitress and manager at Breiner's Restaurant and Leiby's Restaurant in West Penn Township.

Deeply rooted in her faith, Ruth was a longtime member of Zion Church of Lewistown Valley Consistory, where she served as a deacon and participated in the church choir and Sunday school. She was also actively involved in the community through her memberships in the 4-H Club, Tamaqua Parent Teacher Association, Tamaqua Lioness Club, Lewistown Valley Grange, and the Lewistown Valley Flower Club.

Ruth is survived by two daughters, Donna Gerber and Brenda Tuckett, both of Lewistown Valley; one son, Robert Gerber and his wife Lisa of New England Valley; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Breiner of Snyders and Jean Bachert and her husband Bruce of New Ringgold; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Andrea Dunn of New Ringgold.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; a son, Richard Gerber; a grandson, Jason Fritzinger; and a brother, Robert C. Dunn.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley, 489 Valley Road, Tamaqua, PA 18252 with The Rev. James Williams officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
