Solomon Kahane Obituary
Born in New York City and raised in Coaldale, he was a 1975 graduate of Panther Valley High School. He was the husband of Carol (Blaschak) Kahane and the son of the late Viola (Caltisco) Schreiber of Coaldale and Solomon Kahane Sr. of Bronx, NY.
He leaves behind two daughters and two step -children; Melissa Kahane of Norristown PA, Jennifer Kahane of Lansford PA, Tiffany Gwilliam and her husband, Jason of East Norriton, PA, Jason Pandolfo and his wife, Christine of Ambler, PA and five grandchildren. Remaining family members also include five brothers and sisters; Roberta and James Dunn of Baldwin NY, Barry and Elaine Kahane of Nanuet N.Y, Sandra and Meyer Marovitz of Barnegat N.J, Ona and Ellie Gilman of West Haverstraw, N.Y. and Ernest Sivak of Fall River MA.
For the past 26 years he has been an insurance executive traveling the country in various capacities. Prior to, he was a police officer in Nesquehoning and a graduate of the Police Academy and Lackawanna College. Outside of work, Sol and his wife Carol were avid RVer's, a fan of Penn State football and a ride in his Corvette convertible.
Services: Funeral will be Tuesday March 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Lamar Christ Funeral Home in Hometown, with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Benack officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
Donations may be made in his name to the Hillside SPCA, P O Box, 233, Pottsville Pa 17901.
