Wilbur Gildner Obituary
Wilbur H. Gildner, 97, a lifelong resident of Bowmanstown, lately of Heritage Hill, Weatherly, passed away Friday, September 19 in St. Luke's Manor Nursing Home, Hazleton. He was the husband of the late Joyce (Swartz) Gildner, who died in 2022.
He spent his entire career at the former Trojan Powder, Allentown.
Wilbur served honorably in the newly established US Air Force in the aftermath of World War II, and was a member of Lehighton American Legion Post 314.
He attended Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Lehighton. A 32nd Degree Mason, he was very active in F&AM Lodge 621, Lehighton, and Rajah Shrine.
Wilbur was a member of the Lehighton Men's Band for many years, and he loved to golf. He was also an avid Eagles and Phillies fan.
Born in Bowmanstown, he was a son of the late Harvey and Emma (Heiney) Gildner.
Survivors: Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by eight siblings, including his twin brother Willard.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 24 at T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Ave, Palmerton. Call 10-11 a.m. Monday. Masonic fraternal services will be rendered.

Wilbur, you have made your final flight into the wild blue yonder´s. You stand relieved from your post. A job well done fellow veteran and mason. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to begin, ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Have a smooth flight airman.

Wilbur was my mother's cousin Joyce's husband. He was always a very pleasant and funny guy. I'm sure Joyce was waiting for him up in Heaven so they could be together again! RIP Wilbur

I met Wilbur in paraded, he was in the Lehighton Band and I was in the Legion Color Guard. Truly a great guy.
