Wilbur Niehoff Obituary

Wilbur D. 'Whip' Niehoff

Wilbur D. "Whip" Niehoff, 86, of Renner Road, Lehighton, Frankin Township, formerly of Stedman Avenue, Lehighton, died suddenly early Friday morning, June 20, 2025, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township. He was the husband of Betty M. (Cunfer) Niehoff since Oct. 24, 1959.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Frederick and Ruth (Smith) Niehoff.

Whip was employed as a mail carrier by the Lehighton Post Office for 30 years before retiring in 2003. He delivered the former RR3, RR4, Beltzville, Franklin Township and Towamensing Township areas.

He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lehighton.

The deceased was a 1958 graduate of the Lehighton High School, and a 30-plus-year member of the Lehighton Men's Band (Baritone).

Whip was also a member and former officer of the Lehighton Eagles.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was a Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Browns fan, and was a participant in the Carbon County Senior Games.

He and his wife enjoyed vacationing and spending winters in Florida.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Brenda E., wife of Robin Cressley, and sons, Steve D., and his wife, Denise, and Brad D., and his wife, Michelle, all of Lehighton; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Marisa, Gregory, Alicia, Holly and Brady; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Ethan, Ava, Ella and Everest; a brother, Richard Fasching, and his wife, Darlene, of Nazareth; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by stepmother, Hedwig (Kurz) Fasching-Niehoff; sisters, Hedwig Rex and Freida Langkamer; and brothers, Robert Niehoff, Luther Niehoff, John Fasching and William "Bill" Fasching.

Service: Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, Miller Funeral Home, 137 Fairview St., Lehighton. Interment, Lehighton Cemetery. Call 1-2 p.m. Tuesday. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Lehighton. Contributions in his name may be made to the Lehighton Band, c/o the funeral home, 18235.
