William Huber Obituary

William L. Huber, 82, of Center Street, Jim Thorpe, died Monday, June 6, in his home. He was the husband of Dorothy E. (Sudu) Huber. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 27. He was a self-employed plumber and builder and owned and operated a fuel oil business for 58 years, as well as Huber's Antique and Doll Shop on Broadway in Jim Thorpe for 21 years.Born in East Mauch Chunk, he was a son of the late William J. and Agnes V. (Zeiser) Huber, and was a lifelong resident of Jim Thorpe.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe, where he sang in the choir.
His favorite pastime was going to auctions to buy for his shop.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three daughters, Nancy, wife of Daniel Albeck, and Deborah Gerber, both of Jim Thorpe, and Elaine Leaser of Lehighton; two sisters, Rose Mary Kuhn and Barbara Carrigan, both of Jim Thorpe; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his two favorite pets, Kate and Axle.
He was also predeceased by two isters, Veronica Horack and Dolores Moran; a brother Norbert; and a son-in-law, Marshall Leaser Jr.
Service: All services are private. Contributions in his name may be made to the Jim Thorpe Sports Hall of Fame (for the new statue), P.O. Box 4044, Jim Thorpe, Pa. 18229, or the Lehighton Ambulance Assoc., P.O. Box 82, 516 Iron St., Lehighton, Pa. 18235. Arrangements by Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe.
