Agathe Geffe Obituary

Agathe "Aggie" (Regius) Geffe

Agathe "Aggie" (Regius) Geffe, aged 81, passed away on October 26th, 2024, at Maumee Pointe Senior Living, Maumee, OH. Aggie was born on May 25, 1943, in Sachsisch Regen, Romania, to Julius and Selma (Heiter). She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She immigrated to the United States, along with her parents; sister, Inga; and brother, Sigmar, in 1952, to Grosse Pointe Park, MI, where she learned English and became a citizen, and graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in Grosse Pointe, MI. She met her future husband, Roger Geffe, on a blind date, and they were married on August 28, 1965. She and Roger settled in St. Clair Shores, MI, where they enjoyed life with their two children, Scott and Brian. The family moved to Perrysburg, OH, in 1984. After a few years, Aggie decided to get back into the working world, working in the billing departments of X-Ray Associates in Toledo, St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, and the former MedCorp private ambulance service in Toledo, before retiring in 2008.

Aggie's faith was taught to her from a young age, and she lived out that faith throughout her life. To that end, she was a member of the bell choir at Salem Memorial Lutheran Church in Detroit, MI, as well as in the choir at Zoar Lutheran Church for over twenty years.

She also enjoyed boating and socializing with the folks at Indian Hill Boat Club in Maumee, OH. Aggie and Roger enjoyed cruising to destinations such as Vermillion and South Bass Island, OH, and other ports of call along the south shore of Lake Erie and up into the Detroit River, or just taking a run down the Maumee River on a sunny afternoon.

Aggie was diagnosed with dementia in 2018, and moved to Maumee Pointe Senior Living in Maumee, OH, in September of 2023. She continued to make positive connections with many of the residents there, always being a helper, as she always was to countless people throughout her life. We especially thank the staff at Maumee Pointe for their care throughout the past year, as well as the team at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Aggie is survived by her husband, Roger; children, Scott, Brian (Rebecca); grandchildren, Ava and Drew; sister, Inga Woodworth; and brother, Sigmar Regius. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends and family will be received Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 3-6 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). Visitation will continue Monday, November 4, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Charitable donations in Aggie's honor may be made to Zoar Lutheran Church, or the Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
