Alexander Hamilton Obituary

Alexander "Alex" Hamilton passed away peacefully in his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on November 25, 1954, to John and Ellen (Barber) Hamilton. He was a graduate of Larc Lane School in Toledo.
Alex became a resident of Sunshine Communities in 1995, and was one of the first employees of Georgette's Grounds and Gifts when it opened in 2005. Later, he was employed in the laundry and janitorial departments at Sunshine's main campus before his retirement in 2023.
Before coming to Sunshine, Alex was employed at Lott Industries in Toledo.
Alex enjoyed living in and caring for his own apartment, and managing his own affairs. He enjoyed eating out, watching old episodes of Gunsmoke and soap operas. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of iced tea and chocolate ice cream. He loved to play cards, especially Gin Rummy, with his family. He was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Alex was a social, friendly person who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed traveling; most recently to Key West, Florida, with his siblings.
Alex is survived by his brother, Bill (Nancy); and sisters, Jackie (Bob) Simpson, and Cynthia (Rusty) Setmire; and a host of nieces and nephews. Alex was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gary and Darrell.
A memorial service will be held at Sunshine Communities, Maumee, OH, on July 11th, at 10:30 a.m.
