Alexander "A.J."

Alexander " A.J." Potter, 26, of Temperance, MI, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 7, 2014, in The Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends, after fighting a long battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Born, February 19, 1988, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Terry and Robin (Miller) Potter. Alex was a 2006 graduate of Bedford High School and had attended Monroe County Community College. He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake, MI. Alex was an avid fan of the University of Michigan, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons. His faith was abundant in his everyday life and he enjoyed sharing that with his niece and nephew.

He is survived by his loving parents, Terry and Robin Potter; sister, Hailey (Curtis) Burkey; brother, Nolan Potter; niece, Ava Burkey; nephew, Jackson Burkey; grandparents, Sue Zaerr, Shirley Potter, and good friend, Andy Lemble. Alex was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Grandpa Wayne, Robert Miller and William Potter.

Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 5790 West Temperance Rd. (at Whiteford Center), Ottawa Lake, MI 49267, where he will lie in state after 10 a.m. Pastor Mark Gibbs, officiating.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Alex. Being the MDA director for Toledo until 2009 and being part of camp I got to know Alex and his cabin crew. God has a new angle by His side.
