Ann Salem
July 15, 1933 - November 12, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ann Salem, whose life was a testament to grace, generosity, and unwavering love. Ann touched countless hearts, always surrounded by family and friends who cherished her deeply. A devoted mother and grandmother, she embodied the timeless values of care, hospitality, and resilience.
Ann's kitchen was the heart of her home. A masterful Lebanese cook, she delighted in preparing abundant meals that brought people together-relatives, friends, neighbors, and even unexpected guests. Her joy in feeding others reflected her warm and inclusive spirit; no one ever felt like a stranger in her house.
Born on July 15, 1933, in Jib Janine, Lebanon, Ann was the youngest of eight children of Khalil and Anissa Farhat. Raised in a loving household, she carried those values throughout her life. In 1949, she married Sine Salem, and together they built a beautiful life across three homes: their native Lebanon, Springfield, Massachusetts, and ultimately Toledo, Ohio.
Ann devoted herself to raising five children, instilling in them a deep respect for family, a commitment to education, and a purposeful approach to life. Her sacrifices and strength laid the foundation for their success, and her legacy lives on through their lives and values.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sine; her siblings, Sami, Samia, Fatima, Yousef, Mariam, Isaaf, and Ibrahim; her grandson, Mark Elkhatib; and her infant daughter, Amy.
Ann is survived by her children, Regina Elkhatib (Mounir), Omar Salem (Loubna), Nadeem Salem (Nada), Rob Salem (Mark Mockensturm), and Mazin Salem (Diana); her grandchildren, Dina Elkhatib, Rick Elkhatib, Danya Elkhatib, Rasha Salem (Shawn Loofbourrow), Syne Salem (Lauren), Jad Salem, Samantha Salem, Adam Salem, Noah Salem, Anna Salem, Alina Salem, and Eli Salem; her great-grandchildren, Juanita Alvarado (Emilio), Franky Vasquez, Mark Vasquez, Jayden Bolden, and Shadi Loofbourrow; and her great-great-granddaughter, Elaina Alvarado. She is also survived by extended family worldwide and countless friends who will continue to honor her memory with love and gratitude.
