Anthony A. Carollo

Anthony A. Carollo, 96, of Toledo, passed away on March 24, 2018 at home. Tony was born February 23, 1922, in Toledo to Peter and Lena (Mercurio) Carollo.

Tony was a graduate of the Historic St. Patrick Elementary School and a 1941 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He then attended The University of Detroit graduating with a Bachelor of Philosophy degree and a Bachelor of Letters and Law degree in 1946.

Tony and Rosemary Otremba were married on April 3, 1948 at St. Theresa Church. They were married for 59 years until Rosemary's death on July 17, 2007.

Surviving are his daughter, Kim (Allen) Porter, of Holland; his son, Anthony "Nino" (Cathy) Carollo, of Toledo; and sister, Pauline Morford, of Archbold; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, John; his brother, John; and his sister, Giroma Nera.

Tony practiced law in Toledo and then took over his father's wholesale produce business. He was passionate about horse racing and owned horses that raced at various tracks including Toledo Raceway Park. He also enjoyed frequenting the casinos in Detroit and Toledo. Tony was a member of the Toledo Elks for many years---meeting his "aging" friends for lunch and a friendly game of pool at which he excelled. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and the Detroit Tigers. Tony was very proud to be the head usher at Historic St. Patrick Church for many years where he had been an altar boy during his youth.

A private Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in Christ the King Church. Entombment will be at the Lumen Christi Mausoleum in Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Urbanski Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home, 5055 Secor Rd, Toledo, OH. Any tributes may be made to Christ the King Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
