Arthur REGENOLD Obituary

REGENOLD Arthur B. Jr. Mr. Arthur B. Regenold Jr. passed away early Thursday morning, November 17. For the past two years he had been a resident of the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek in Holland. Prior to moving to Wolf Creek he and his wife of 62 years, the late Virginia Louise (Weeber) Regenold lived for over 50 years on the property in Waterville that had been in the Weeber family for three generations. Born on March 7, 1923, to the late Olga Regenold and Arthur B. Regenold Sr. Mr. Regenold was an independent insurance agent. His agency, A. B. Regenold & Co., was fortunate to have many area agricultural customers. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fly fishing. He was a former member of the Rockwell Springs Trout Club in Castalia and enjoyed seasonal activities that spanned over seventy years at the property his parents, and later he, owned at Black Lake in northern lower Michigan. Known as Whispering Pines, the property was the summer vacation getaway for many Toledo area families. He was also a founding member of the Cutty Sark Rod and Gun Club. After graduating from Woodward High School, Art studied forestry at Penn State University, but his college education was cut short by WWII. He enlisted in December, 1942, ultimately proudly serving in Headquarters Company of the U. S. Army 289th Combat Engineer Battalion, landing in France in December of 1944. The unit was in southern Germany when hostilities ceased in April, 1945. After being discharged in 1946, he joined his father and began his career as an insurance agent. He and Virginia were married on April 26, 1947. Art and Virginia were members of the Waterville Historical Society. They also were avid supporters of the Anthony Wayne Marching Generals and traveled to Miami, FL in 1971, when the Marching Generals first performed in the Orange Bowl Parade. For several years in the 1960s, he was the Scoutmaster of former Boy Scout Troop 257 of Waterville. In his retirement years, he pursued woodworking and furniture refinishing. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Susan Conlon and husband Terry Conlon of Cincinnati. His grandson, Patrick Conlon, resides in Mackinaw City, MI. His son, Arthur B. Regenold III, and wife Margaret "Kathy" Regenold live in McDonough, GA. The family extends its grateful thanks to the staffs of Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek and St. Luke's Hospital for the loving care provided to Mr. Regenold. A private interment is planned at Wakeman Cemetery in Waterville with a celebration of Art's life to be held at the family's summer home in early July. What a wonderful man. I just loved to talk to Art. He loved his family so very much! Sure wish I could talk to him one more time. I was blessed to meet and befriend Art when I worked at Foodtown in Waterville. Sometimes you get lucky and meet the nicest people.

I will always have great memories of Art. We became friends years ago while I was working at Foodtown in Waterville. Virginia would send him to the store with a list and if he couldn't find something he would find me and I would help him so he didn't "catch the devil". :) He must be so happy now...He missed her so much! When I went to see him at Wolf Creek, he always talked about her and his family. He was so proud of them all. Patrick was his pride and joy. I can still see his big smile when he talked about his family and all the memories he had. I am so glad I was blessed to have known him. What a wonderful person.

Art was a friend of all the Hawn family. We would see each other at the lake each summer. He would always ask about my brother Allen (deceased also). Always a treat to talk with him. He will be remembered by the many people whose lives he touched. We espress our condolences to the family. Janet Blair & Doug Hawn

Many fond memories of Black Lake and all the fun that we had with the Regenald family. All of you were so generous and out going that we always felt like family.
Enjoyed growing up with your children even though they were "younger than ME".
Enjoyed the camp fires, singing around the pump organ, camp fires and roasting marshmellow on a rake to make lots and quick somores.

Blessings of comfort and sympathy. Love, Le Nien Blank Mueller

He will be long remembered by all of us at Black Lake. What a dear man. He taught me all I know about refinishing furniture.
Love to all.

Susie and Butch, we are remembering your Dad with love. We were up at the lake this September and drove by Whispering Pines many times remembering you all as we passed by. There will always be a place in our hearts for your family.
