Barbara N. Dauel

Barbara N. Dauel, 79, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2021, after an extended stay at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She was born Thursday, April 10, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, to parents Sidney and Esther (Masell) George. Barbara was a 1959 graduate of DeVilbiss High School and a 1963 graduate the University of Toledo. She completed her Bachelor of Education Degree and, went on to continue her studies to become certified to teach elementary and junior high school special education curriculums. Barbara piloted the first learning disabilities classroom at Stranahan Elementary School and later years taught at Timberstone Junior High School, retiring in 2004 with 38 years of serving her community and the Sylvania Schools. Barbara was a voracious reader and enjoyed attending the Classic Concert Series Performances by the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. She was a long-time member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Toledo, where she taught Sunday School and served on the advisory board for Graceful Beginnings Preschool. Barb always looked forward to the time spent with friends and family zooming around Mullet Lake on their boat "Pins and Needles" and continuing up North to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where she enjoyed her love of birds and the beauty of nature.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 55 years, Robert W. Dauel; son, Rob (Jamie) Dauel; sister, Elizabeth "Betty" (Gene) Kohli; nieces, Amy and Abby Reeb; nephew, Jim (Cindy) Kohli; great-niece, Olivia Reeb; and great nephew, Jamison Kohli. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Nancy George.

Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Monday, April 5th, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., where Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, April 6th, at 1:00 p.m. Barbara will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.

Those wishing to offer memorials in her memory, are asked to consider, in lieu of flowers, tributes to the Salem Lutheran Church, 1127 N. Huron St. Toledo, OH. 43604.

Barbara was a person of faith and now is enjoying the beauty of the stars in Heaven. Rest well, "Good and Faithful Servant." Online condolences to

Sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Barb briefly at Stranahan Elementary. She will be remembered as a helpful and caring person.
