Betty Sherman Obituary
Betty Sherman, 94, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, artistry, and unwavering strength.
Born in Washington, D.C., Betty's pursuit of excellence began early at National Cathedral School and continued through Mary Washington College. She made history as a graduate of the first nursing class at the University of Virginia's School of Nursing.
Betty's generous spirit touched countless lives through her volunteer work at the Toledo Museum of Art, where her appreciation for beauty and culture enriched the community. Her exceptional needlework became treasured heirlooms, each piece reflecting her attention to detail and artistic vision.
Those who knew Betty remember her outgoing personality and remarkable resilience in facing life's challenges. Her strength sustained her through the loss of beloved husbands, Bill Liddle and Glenn Sherman; sons, Dyer and Spencer Liddle; and grandson, Alex Sherman.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Margaret Liddle Upton; stepchildren, Barbara Cutrona, Diane Sherman, Paul Sherman, Mary Ellen Dolan, and Tom Sherman; 16 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be announced.
