Bruce Atkinson Obituary
Dr. Bruce G.
Dr. Bruce G. Atkinson, 64, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee, OH, on July 6, 2016. He was born on October 13, 1951 in Cleveland, OH, son of Ralph and Alice (Cressman) Atkinson. A graduate of Shawnee High School, Lima, OH he attended The Ohio State University in the accelerated dental program graduating with a D.D.S. degree. He then served as a Captain in the Dental Corps of the U.S. Army, Ft. Eustis, VA. He received his Master's degree in Orthodontics at St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO and opened his Orthodontic practice in Holland, OH in April of 1981. One of his greatest passions in life was his patients and their families.
He was a Diplomate of the Board of Orthodontics, member of the American Association of Orthodontics, The Ohio Dental Association, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontics, The Toledo Dental Society, past president of the Reynolds Corner Rotary Club and a member of the Church of Scientology.
He is survived by his children, Robert Bruce and Nicole Therese Atkinson; his fiancee, Sandra Bruno; mother, Alice Atkinson; sister, Jane (Stan) Gromelski; sister-in-law, Susan (Paul) Atkinson-Hunt; and nieces, Karin (Lance) Landrum, Kimberly (Eddie) Ousley and Blythe Gromelski. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Atkinson and brother, James Atkinson.
A Celebration of Life and service for Dr. Bruce will be held at Waterville Event Center, 1440 Waterville-Monclova Rd., Waterville, OH 43566 on July 30, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

I was one of his patients... Yes, he made my smile extra pretty.I enjoyed his funny personality and our conversations.We teased Jessica a lot:)& I'll poke fun at him with Jessica.You were so kind and friendly to my two young boys. I'll miss you dearly and i will never forget you.

I was sorry to hear of Dr. Bruce's passing. He was an amazing man. Made going to the orthodontist fun. He always had a smile, a joke or a song. Even after my treatments were finished, he always asked how I was doing and always had a hug. Gonna miss him.

My heart is so saddened by the news of Dr. Bruce. Our family enjoyed his compassion as a orthodontist (3 children seen by him) and as a BUCKEYE FAN.... I've always enjoyed going to the office to chat and the laughter we shared. I will always treasure his personality, his dedication to his patients and parents, and his love for his children.
Dr. Bruce, you are one of a kind... May you rest in peace.

Dr. Bruce was a very kind man - he took care of two of my daughters. After each visit, he would say "thank mom for bringing you today". He will be greatly missed and prayers to his family

Dr Bruce was my orthodontist roughly 15 years ago and he was the best! I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends. He was a wonderful man!

My fondest memory is of Dr. Bruce is when he sang The Eagles "Hotel California" during a visit. Maybe a foot above my face, replacing my rubber bands, and just singing away!
He was such an awesome man. Even 20 years later I can still remember how he radiated happiness.
My condolences to all the family & friends. He will be truly missed!

Sandy, Robert and Nicole,
I'm so sorry to hear about Bruce. My thoughts are with you all. I had many good times working at the office and lots of laughs around the break room table. I still giggle when I think of Sandy at our office meetings saying "Dr Bruce, I have a question....", you always knew something hilarious was going to happen.

he was my Orthodontist about 24 years ago and i will never forget how passionate he was about his practice and how gentle he was. i never had to wait long for my appointments. i am sad for the loss.
