Carol Filzer Obituary
Carol E. Filzer, 91, of Toledo, OH, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Mercy St. Anne Hospital in Toledo.
She was born February 4, 1932 in Toledo to Gustave and Bernadine (Schmidt) Hofmann. Carol graduated from Toledo University with a Bachelor of Science in 1952 and worked as a medical technician. She married Karl Filzer in 1954, became a mother and homemaker. She also taught piano and played the organ for several churches. She retired when she became an Oma--her most favorite "career."
Surviving are her children, Carolyn Filzer, Karl (Chris) Filzer, Jr., and Eric (Tammy) Filzer; grandchildren, Jessica (Dan) Carmen, Jaime (Billy) Cameron, Kristen (Alex Kaser) Filzer, and Kaitlyn (Steven Dajnowicz) Filzer; great-grandchildren, Sophie and Kate Carmen; cousins, Shirley Bladel, Eleanor Finn, Lyle and Jerry Scheckler. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Karl; and grandson, David Filzer.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at David R. Jasin- Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, 43611. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 3:00 p.m., Sister Ginny Welsh OSF, presiding.
