Carol Louise Van Newhouse

Carol Louise Van Newhouse, 69, of Maumee, passed away at home Thursday, February 15, 2024. She was born February 15, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio to Charles and Clara (Ignasiak) Bertok. Carol was a creative woman skilled in many different forms of art including needlepoint and painting ceramics. She was an avid lover of cats and enjoyed learning to use new technology, even volunteering to help young kids learn to use computers at her daughter's elementary school.

She worked at the former Toledo Trust bank as an international teller, and The Anderson's retail store for over ten years. Carol loved and devoted herself to her family above all else.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Robert Van Newhouse; daughter, Michelle (Joseph) Smith; grandchildren, Wyatt, Garrett, and Kennedy; sister, Barb (Ed) Turner; brother, Charles (Chris) Bertok. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kendra Van Newhouse; brother, Ken Bertok, and both parents.

Services for Carol will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Carol's honor to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements by Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com

Growing up across the street from the Van Newhouse family was special. Bob and Carol were always was very kind to me. I will always remember Carol and the bowl of candy. "You are going to have no teeth when you get older!"
