Carolyn Kest Obituary

KEST Carolyn M. Carolyn M. Kest, 62 years of Maumee entered Eternal Life on Saturday, October 7, 2006, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Perrysburg after a long illness. Carolyn was born on November 13, 1943, in Marion, Ohio to Richard and Mazie (Fix) Holgate. She was the devoted wife of Deacon Joseph H. Kest whom she married on July 18, 1964, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Toledo, Ohio. Carolyn was a stay at home mom until her children were in school fulltime. She then worked at St Patrick of Heatherdowns School for many years as a lunch mother and then as a kindergarten teacher's aid. She worked at a day care until health problems prevented her from working. By far one of her most important roles was in the support of her husband in his diaconate ministries. Without her love and dedication to her husband and their children, her husband could not have been an effective minister to God's people. God has a special reward for her in heaven. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Michael. Besides her husband, Joseph of 42 years also surviving are her son, Joseph III (Pamela); daughters, Teresa Kest and Katherine Kest; 2 grandchildren, Nicole Houston and Katelyn Hendrichs; sisters, Sharon (Charles) Winn and Joanne (James) Fiebrink of San Antonio, TX and Pamela Holgate of Arizona and brother, Richard Holgate of San Antonio, Texas. Friends may call at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds on Monday, October 9, 2006, from 2-8 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home with prayers at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, before continuing to St Patrick of Heatherdowns church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send all memorials to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church Father Brogan Fund. In 6 days, it will be 16 years Nana.. you were the glue to our family. I still remember the day we went to Value City and I pushed you in the wheelchair and you put your feet up on the bottom of the cart and pushed the cart around and we kept running into the clothes racks and one of the workers said, "looks like you two are having fun.." because we kept laughing.. miss and love you a lot.

How has it been 14.5 years, Nana? Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you and how you’re doing. You were Katelyn and I’s second mom and you always had the magical touch and your love and hugs could make all our tears go away. You will NEVER EVER be forgotten. I love & miss you dearly.

I am Carolyn's first daughter-law, and I am very proud to being apart of the family. I shared alot of time with her before she went to a warmer place. I enjoyed shopping with her. She was a very funny person. I will alway's keep her in my heart. I married her wonderful son. Also, she has a wonderful family. I love you mom and will always remember the times we shared.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I, too, am a member of Kenedy High School Class of 1962. Our prayers are with you.

I also remember Carolyn as a classmate in Kenedy. She was rather quiet and dedicated to her work, but always had a smile for others. Each time we have had a reunion we have wondered where Carolyn was living. It is ironic that we should discover it in this manner. My deepest sympathies to the family.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I was also a member of the class of 62. May God be with you in your time of grief and celebration of her life.

My name is Dick Haugen and I too was a classmate of Carolyn. In fact her family moved to Kenedy when her dad came to work for General Mills. Her dad worked with my dad, John Esser.

My deepest sympathies to the entire family.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Carolyn. She was a fellow member of the Class of 1962 of Kenedy High School in Kenedy, Texas, and a friend of mine. May God continue to bless her family. I have thought of her often.

We grieve the loss of a very generous lady who was devoted to her family and shared her husband's time so that he could be such an effective minister to St. Pat's congregation. May God reward her with the eternal happiness she so richly deserves.

My deepest sympathies to the Kest Family during this difficult time. I'll remember Carolyn's smiling face and willingness to volunteer for the church she loved. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a lovely lady.
