Chad McArthur Obituary

Chad Palmer McArthur

After a protracted battle with cancer, Chad Palmer McArthur passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side on June 18, 2018 in Edgewood, New Mexico at age 46. He leaves behind his wife, Dana; and son, Ben Wyatt.

Chad was born on May 19, 1972 in Cleveland, OH, to John and Barbara McArthur. Chad's family moved to Oshkosh, WI, then Frankenmuth, MI and settled in Toledo, OH where Chad attended Springfield High School (class of 1990) ran cross country and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Chad was an avid fly fisherman, woodworker, and lover of the outdoors. He was kind, quick with a joke, and had a disarming personality that made others feel at ease and always welcome.

Chad completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Colorado, Boulder and worked as a professional engineer and respected senior associate at Thornton Tomasetti, specializing in structural engineering projects. When diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2014, he remained dedicated in his work and in his will to fight his illness. He loved his family more than anything. His sense of humor and desire to make them happy were true to the end.

Chad is also survived by his mother, Barbara; brother Michael (Leanne); aunts Susan and Nancy McArthur; sister-in-law Kim (Greg) Martel; sister-in-law Jeannette (Steve) Johnson, and brother-in-law Brian (Tonya) Freed; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John.

Chad was my best friend. We went to Springfield High School together. We hung out all the time.We ran Track and Cross Country together at Springfield High School.I lived down the Road from Chad.We would run together all the time.Chad is still part of the record holding 4 by 800 team at Springfield High School. He was a great runner.I'll always remember the runs we went for,the movies we saw at Southwyck and the times we went jet sking on the families boat.I can't believe that he is gone.I would like to say that I am very sorry to his Mother, who is a very kind lady.I am very sorry for John as well.I am sorry for all Chad's family and friends. He was the nicest person I have ever met.He is gone way to soon.My Friend Always,Bryan Schunk, Class of "1990".
