Charles Edwin STRONG

STRONG Charles Edwin Charles Edwin Strong, age 86, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2012 at home, with his loving family at his bedside. He was born June 8, 1925 in Swanton to William and Clara (Osgood) Strong. He was a 1943 graduate of Swanton High School. Chuck joined the United States Navy and served during WWII aboard the USS Antietam. On March 28, 1953, he married his beloved wife, Louella Henry. Chuck was a truck driver for A&P Tea Company and was an all around handyman. He remained very active in the community, serving as a charter member of the Swanton Elks Lodge #2462, Swanton American Legion Post #479, and was past-president of the Wauseon Horseshoe Association. He loved playing euchre, golfing, and bowling. Chuck will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 58 years Lou; children, Robert (Dee) Strong, Kenneth Strong, Karen (Mark) Walbolt, Jeff Strong, and Mary (Scott) Shoffer; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Susie Aton and nephews and nieces, Ed (Linda) Aton, Rodney Aton, and Cheryl Fugate. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence, Hank, Donald, and Kenneth; sisters, Norma and Marie; granddaughter, Jean Anne'e Strong and daughter-in-law, Susan Kathryn Strong. Family and friends may visit Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where an Elks Lodge service will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2nd at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at Sharples Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E.
