Lowman, New York
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the age of 87. He was born on May 27, 1938 in Elmira, New York to the late Melvin James Strong and Zoe Gertrude Cook Strong. He is predeceased by his parents, and his children Bonnie, Lugene, and Michael.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Eloise Chilson Strong; children, Raymond "Ray" (Julie) Strong of Horseheads, NY, Sally Cady of Horseheads, NY, and Lucinda "Cindy" (William) Freas of Kannapolis, NC; sisters Mary Porter and Linda Middleton, many precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
Norman grew up in Breesport, New York and enlisted in the US Army on November 15, 1955, serving 3 years in active duty, stationed in peacetime South Korea. He worked many odd jobs, primarily at Thatcher Glass (now Anchor Glass) and was a truck driver for many companies. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, loved to cook chili, was a well-known jokester, and loved his many grandkids. Norman was also an avid fan of the Dean Goble Band, and would often go to their shows with Eloise.
The family welcomes your condolences at this time, but in accordance with Norman wishes no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations in Norman's memory, please consider donating to the Chemung County SPCA or a charity of your choice.

To the whole Strong family. I have known you since the '70's and still love you all. I am so sorry for the loss of Norm. He was a wonderful man and a great boss at Thatcher's. To Eloise I send love and prayers. He is always with you in your heart and soul. Prayers to the whole family from Allan and I.
