Chuck Peyton passed away October 29, 2014, after a long illness. Chuck was born on September 4, 1935, to Charles and Evelyn Peyton in Toledo, Ohio, and grew up in Whitehouse, Ohio. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Skylark as a deep sea diver, Chuck served as Lucas County Jury Commissioner for 35 years, was Chief Deputy Clerk of Courts and the Governmental Liaison for Lucas County, and acted as Deputy Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 2. In Waterville, he performed the duties of Vice Mayor, Councilman, and Village Administrator. He was elected to three terms as Mayor. Chuck belonged to the Korean War Veterans Association, The American Legion and the U.S. Submarine Veterans Association.

Chuck was a member of the Wakeman Masonic Lodge, Zenobia Shrine, and the Royal Order of the Jesters. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Toledo Animal Shelter, the Browning Masonic Community, and TARTA.

Preceded in death by his father, Charles, and brothers, John and Jim, Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his brother, Robert (Jan) and his mother, Evelyn; as well as his nieces, nephews, and cousin, Sally Ellenwood. Chuck also leaves behind numerous honorary family members whom he "adopted" throughout his long life.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, aides, students and the entire staff of The University of Toledo Medical Center for their love and attention.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 2, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Road in Waterville. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St Patrick Parish (Providence), 14010 Old U.S. 24, Grand Rapids, Ohio, with a luncheon in the church hall immediately following.
