Daniel Mossing Obituary

MOSSING Daniel W. Daniel W. Mossing, age 48, of Metamora passed away November 13, 2007, at home surrounded by his family after a 2 1/2 years battle with cancer. He was born October 15, 1959, in Toledo to Larry and Donna Mossing. A 1978 graduate of St. John's High School, he began his career in the family business of Mossing Pools. At the age of 32, he returned to school to pursue his nursing degree. Dan was a burn and ICU nurse at St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center for 10 years then most recently was employed at Northwest Ohio Dialysis Partners. A lover of the Christmas season, he was widely known as "Clark Griswold" for his monstrous display of Christmas lights. He enjoyed making Christmas crafts and for those of you who know him know that his Christmas trees are already up and decorated. Preceded in death by his mother, Donna, he is survived by his wife of 22-1/2 years, Linda; children, Travis, Rachel and Trent Mossing; father and step-mother, Larry and Dottie Mossing; mother and father-in-law, Donna and Jerome Murd; grandmother, Rose Buckenmeyer; sisters, Karen Pawlaczyk, Debbie (Larry) Gaster, Lynne (Jim) Petti, Marianne (T.J.) Mader and Julie (Chris) Newcombe; brothers, Dave (Kim), Doug (Barb) and Gregg Mossing; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Joe Damman) Cox and Cindy (Donald) Hudik; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., (west of Corey) on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin Friday at 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, Assumption, Ohio. The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to thank all the people involved in the two benefits in Dan's honor, Linda's friends and co-workers at the Toledo Clinic and anyone else who has helped the last 2-1/2 years. Linda, Travis, Rachel, and Trent,
My prayers are with you. I was paired with Dan when he was a new nurse at St. V's. I have never had a new nurse ask so many questions! I learned so much. Your husband and Dad was a wonderful caring person. Patients loved him. He will always be with you.
Sincerely,
Sandy Drewyor

Linda,
I read about your husband's recent death in the newspaper. I wanted to let you know that I was one of Dan's nursing instructors at The University of Toledo. I remember him fondly and am so sorry that his life and contributions to nursing were cut so short. My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.

My deepest sympathies to Linda & kids, Uncle Larry and Danny's brothers and sisters.

I still remember those days in Assumption when we were kids and visiting you all. I remember Danny as always being the fun kid. It is hard to believe that time went so quickly and now Danny is gone.

May Danny rest in peace.
