The sun shines a little dimmer today because Dan Robarge passed forward into the next life on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Born in Toledo to Louise and Charles Robarge on November 25, 1919, Dan was the youngest of three boys, raised by a single parent during the depression. He soon learned he would have to strive a little harder to succeed, and because of his perseverance and determination, he went on to become forever a true "Stand-up guy."

He graduated from Scott High School in 1936, where he excelled as an athlete with the looks of a Hollywood actor. He always took great pride in scoring the first touchdown under the lights, after they were installed in the new stadium. It was at Scott, where he met his first wife, Ursula "Molly" Krug. They married in 1942, when he was home on leave from the Army, in which he served on the European Front until 1945. They were blessed by 46 wonderful years of marriage, lifelong friendships, the joys, trials and tribulations of raising a family, exciting travel adventures together, and most of all, their love for each other.

After returning from the armed services, Dan accepted a position at the Main Post Office, where he rose to the level of shift supervisor. He was respected by his peers and employees as being fair, honest, always dependable, and an exceptionally considerate person. Always a tireless worker, he retired from the Postal Service on a Friday, and embarked the following Monday on a ten year career with the former Ohio Citizens Bank.

After retirement and the passing of Ursula, he fortunately remained extremely active. He became affectionately known as "Digger Dan" around the neighborhood for his never-ending care of his lawn and flowers. Still priding himself as being "a jock," he continued to run in The Blade Run and was thrilled with winning his division in his late 70s. In addition to being loyal to his family and friends, he was a lifelong follower and fan of his Tigers, Red Wings, Lions, and Wolverines. He fortunately found a true friend and companion in long time friend, Jean Schaefer. Together they traveled, enjoyed walks at the mall, Fridays at the Elks, numerous shows and family gatherings.

Dan could be considered a true Englishman and his care, thoughtfulness, and compassion for others was exemplary. Without fail, he remembered birthday and Christmas cards to family and countless friends well into his late 80s and continued to annually support 20 different charities. It's the little things that will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving is son, Michael (Sherie); daughter, Susan Domini (Dennis); grandchildren, Elizabeth Ostrow (Jesse), Abbey Alexicko (John), Marin Sheets (Jack), and Kurt Domini; two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Everett Sheets; dear friend, Jean Schaefer, and numerous relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Kingston of Perrysburg, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, and Oakleaf Village for exemplary care during his later years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests, that in memory of Dan and in keeping with his tradition of giving, you make a donation to your favorite charitable organization. Graveside services will be private with a reception of remembrance planned for a later date.
