David L. "Duke" Burzynski

BURZYNSKI David L. "Duke" David L "Duke" Burzynski, age 70, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in The Toledo Hospital. He was born on November 17, 1937, in Toledo to Leon and Josephine (Janiszewski) Burzynski. A 1956 graduate of Libbey High School, he was employed as a machine operator specialist for GM Powertrain for 37 1/2 years, retiring in 1997. David was a US Army Veteran and member of the C.W.V. Logsdon Walla Post 639. A parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, he was also a member of the Commodore Club, and the F.O.E Aerie 197. He was an avid fisherman and bowler who still bowled twice a week, and was proud of the two 299 games he bowled in the Blade Classic. David recently celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary with his high school sweetheart, Patricia Edwards Burzynski, whom he married in St. Teresa Catholic Church on February 27th, 1960. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he cherished time spent with his family and loved to brag about his granddaughters - Lauren for softball, Taylor for gymnastics, and Arija for everything. In addition to his wife, Patricia, David is survived by his daughter, Jodi (Jeff) Grana; granddaughters, Lauren, Taylor, and Arija Grana; sisters, Irene Kujawa and Doloras (John) Weinrich; 4 nieces; 2 nephews; and faithful canine and best friend, "Shenzi". His parents, Leon and Josephine; and brothers, Leonard and Edward Burzynski, preceded him in death. Family and friends may visit on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday from 2-8 p.m. in the Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 East Alexis Rd., where the St. Catherine Altar Rosary Society will lead a rosary on Sunday at 4 p.m., and members of the CWV 639 will lead a vigil service on Sunday at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home, and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Catherine Church at 10 a.m. The Lucas County Burial Corps will conclude with a military committal service in Calvary Cemetery.
