David Ibarra Obituary

David H. Ibarra

David H. Ibarra, age 64, of Toledo, passed away suddenly Monday, June 20, 2022 at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born on July 16, 1957 to Hugo and Viola (Leal) Ibarra in Houston, Texas. David graduated in 1975 from Whitmer High School where he wrestled and earned a scholarship to attend Bowling Green State University. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree from BGSU he attended The Ohio State University and obtained his Master's Degree in Educational Administration in 1983. While working he continued his education and was accepted into the University of Toledo's College of Law, graduating in 1987 and passed the bar in 1988. David went back into education working for Napoleon, Delta, and retiring from Washington Local as an Administrator. His passion for wrestling led him to coach at the various schools as well. Even in retirement he continued to educate for Capella and Tiffin Universities. David was a strong pillar in the Latino community in the Toledo area. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. Some of his favorite hobbies included working out, playing golf, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. David was known to enjoy a good cigar and a tequila on his deck. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Ibarra; and grandson, Cameron Cortez. Left to cherish David's memory are his loving wife of 22 years, Debbie Ibarra; children, Mike (Diana) Bushman, Amber (Sontino) Cortez, Nathan (Celissa) Ibarra and Jacob (Kennedy) Ibarra; grandchildren, Pierson, Carson, Marissa, Amyah, and Riley; siblings, Patrick (Connie) Ibarra, Linda (Matt) Rogers and Mike (Sandy) Ibarra; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
