David C. "Dave" Joshua Sr., was born on December 3, 1951, in Banks, Arkansas. He moved with his family to Toledo, Ohio, in 1966. Dave demonstrated a passion for sports, especially football, excelling during his time at Edward Drummond Libbey High School, where he received several awards and trophies, inspired by a cousin who played the game.

Dave furthered his education by attending trade school, where he earned a state-certified Millwright degree. He dedicated his career, working at Davis-Besse, the Fifth-Third Banking Center in downtown Toledo, OI Building, and for 10 years at the City of Toledo Water Reclamation Plant in maintenance until he retired.

Dave had a passion for woodworking and was known for his remarkable skill with his hands. His love for life extended beyond his craftsmanship, as he was also a devoted fan of Michigan football, sharing his enthusiasm for the game with those around him.

Dave passed away on September 14, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vivian Joshua; his sons, David C. Joshua Jr. and Brandon A. (Cine E. Sanders) Joshua; his granddaughter, Alexandra Joshua; step-children, Alyssa (John) Buckner, Constance Coleman, Austin (Alazae) Coleman, Skylar (Darlene) Walker, Christina Walker; and 23 grandchildren; along with special granddaughter, Carmen; step-daughter, BreeAnne Dixie; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Scott (Kathy) Joshua, James K. (Cecelia) Joshua, David (Anita) Wine; sisters, Ella Linda Joshua, Mary McCormick, Carrie (David) Garner, Paula R. (Robert) Williams, JieLee Johnson; his auntie, Vivian Jean (Bill) Franklin; brothers-in-law, John Fowler and Leonard Fowler; sisters-in-law, Valorie, Nazzarah Bey, Sandra Hutchinson, Sharon Mabrey; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his best friend, Glenn Kynard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David C. and Naomi Joshua; brothers, Samuel Joshua, Leroy Joshua, and Lemont Wine; sister-in-law, Carmen Fowler; and his best friend, Kenny Jones, who passed on Dave's birthday; as well as cousin, Joseph Webb.
