I just heard of Mr. Merickel's passing. My sincere condolences to the entire family especially to Craig, Stephanie, Nolan and Seth. Craig is one of my son Scott's best friends. The Merickels lived just a few houses away from mine. God will guide you through this and everything will be fine.

Edwin F Gearhart

Judy, Becky, Craig, and Chris, By my birth age I would be in the same generation as David and Judy even though I am a first cousin of his mother Marjorie who by age was in the same age as my father Robert and my Marguerite GEARHART. I remember good times being with David and Barb although there have not been so many in the last years. It was more letters at Christmas and the occasional phone conversaton. I know how proud he was of his children. I know how much he missed Barb in our last conversation, but I also remember that he was doing better in what had been a struggle after her death. He was a good man, who lived life as he saw he should, and loved his family. I am glad to have had him as a member my extended family. What I regret in not hiaving been able to get up to Toledo to visit, I hope to catch up on with him and Barb and the rest our relative in an ongoing reunion in eternity. What is hard to believe some times is that my sister Judy and I are the last of the Gearhart first cousins with the death of Mary Ginter Dobner at age 96 earlier this year as those a little older in the next generatiion in the lineage are making the passage from this portion of life to the next. I will make sure the west coast portion of the family knows of his death. I regret not being able to be there for the funeral, but I am currently a student at Boston College on my three month sabbatical gearing up for new preaching material and new understandings of the Hispanics with whom I work more and more. I am very grateful for Becky's telephone call to let me know how he was doing and that he had died. (Dave was pround of his Air Force girl whom Barb wanted me to think of an honorary niece.) You all are in my prayers as well as Judy's. My sister Judy sends her sympathy and her greetings. Let us continue to stay in touch. (Fr.) Ed

Dear Becky,
You may not remember me, but I was one of your teachers at Fallen Timbers and I remember you very well. You were always a joy to have in class. I saw your father's notice just by chance, and so I send to you my sincere condolences. God bless you and your family at this difficult time.
