David Wolfe Obituary

David E. Wolfe

David E. Wolfe, A.I.A., age 75, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2022, with his family and siblings by his side. He was born on October 12, 1946, to Everett and Catherine (Eaton) Wolfe in Toledo.

David was an architect at Munger Munger + Associates Architects Inc., retiring after more than 40 years. A lifelong Toledoan, he leaves a mark on the city and Northwest Ohio through his contributions to various projects, including the 2001 addition and renovation of the Main Toledo Lucas County Public Library. He was an active member of the Toledo chapter of the American Institute of Architects, which recognized him as the 2014 Toledo Architect of the Year. His commitment to the profession led him to mentor the next generation of architects.

David volunteered his free time in service to others. A longtime parishioner of St. Pius X Parish, he served on the Buildings and Grounds and Finance Committees, as well as the Parish Council. For over 20 years, he and his wife offered pre-marriage counseling to engaged couples. David visited the sick and aided those in need as a member of the St. Pius X chapter of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, which gave him the Top Hat Award in 2016. He valued his time as a leader in Boy Scout Troop 14, helping scouts advance to the rank of Eagle. David was a supporter of many Toledo institutions, such as the Symphony, the Toledo Museum of Art, and the downtown Farmers Market.

David was preceded in death by his parents. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Beatrice (Szmania) Wolfe; children, Amanda Wolfe and Thaddeus Wolfe; sisters, Ann Wolfe and Barbara (Robert) Schuler; brother, John (Traci) Wolfe; and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at St. Pius X Parish at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Pius X Parish, the Toledo Lucas County Library Friends of the Library, or a charity of the donor's choice.

The family would like to thank the extraordinary caregivers at Toledo Hospital, particularly Hannah for taking such good care of our "Mr. Architect."

We were so saddened to learn of David´s passing. Our prayers go out to all of the family. We thoroughly enjoyed speaking with him often about our mutual interest in the art glass world and the pride that he took in sharing his son´s accomplishments. Those lively discussions and David himself, will be truly missed.
