Deanna Cromly Obituary

Deanna Felice Welch Cromly

4/12/1976 - 8/31/2025

Deanna Felice Welch Cromly, 49, beloved daughter, sister and mother, gently passed away surrounded by family on August 31st, 2025, at Toledo Hospital after a brief but intense battle with leukemia. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on April 12th, 1976, to Dr. Harold and Lois Welch, she attended Most Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Notre Dame Academy and Ashland University, graduating summa cum laude.

Deanna had a radiant personality, singing, dancing, and entertaining from childhood on. She excelled in the theater, playing the title role in Peter Pan, the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods, and Cathy in Whistle Down the Wind, among many others. Her charitable heart made her a steadfast friend and a lifelong lover and rescuer of animals.

But her greatest joy and accomplishment was raising her seven children, to each of whom she gave her love, her smile, her soothing voice, her tender embraces, her lullabies, her attentive ears; mending every wound, drying every tear, and cheering every single one of their achievements...loudly (if you know you know).

Deanna was a devoted Catholic whose undying faith sustained her through her life and her illness, impacting all who were witness to her example. In her final week many doctors and nurses who treated her earlier in her illness came by to tell her family how deeply she had affected their lives with her smile, kind words, and great faith.

Deanna is survived by her parents, Hal and Lois; her siblings, Laura (Ted) Blanford, Harold, Sharon, John Paul (Kim), Annie (Michael) Babkiewicz; her children, Claudia, Simon, Owen, Thomas (fiancée Mya), Cecilia, Colin, and Saul; and her nieces and nephews, Isla, Chelsea, Cyrus, Anointed, Hayden, Dylan, Nolan, Henry, Lewis, Mia, Emily, Felix, and Cora.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament, 2240 Castlewood Dr., Toledo, Ohio, on Friday, September 5th, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour before starting at 12:00 p.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery and reception at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish will follow. Our Hearts go out to Deanna and her family during this difficult time. Deanna always had a gift to inspire others. We remember how she´d get the kids at Holy Trinity excited during the school plays. She always showed genuine interest in the well being of others. She was proud of her kids and wasn´t shy to express her faith in God. May He welcome you into His kingdom! You will be missed.

When I think of Deanna, I can´t help but smile-her smile was truly contagious. She was so beautiful, loving, and full of positivity. Her giggle was the best, and it will always stay with me. So many of my childhood memories at Blessed Sacrament involve Deanna-from playing softball to having sleepovers with her and Laura. She brought so much joy to everyone around her.
