Dennis Taylor Obituary

Dennis "Denny" Coe Taylor

Dennis "Denny" Coe Taylor, age 84, passed away October 9, 2025, at Myrtle Beach Manor in Myrtle Beach, SC, after a five year battle with Alzheimer's. The son of Robert Taylor and Mary Alice Brach, he was born August 6th, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio. Denny spent his youth in the North End of Toledo and would share his stories and adventures growing up. Denny was a 1959 graduate of Rogers High School. Denny was a proud lifelong resident of Toledo, except for his military service and the last four years of his life when he moved to be close to his son and daughter in-law. Denny served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1959-1962. He was stationed first at Ft. Benning, GA, and then LaRochelle, France, at LaPallice Terminal. He married the love of his life, Shirley Meadows, on July 18th, 1964. They were members of St. Clement Catholic Church. Denny worked at the Dura Corp. and later at Chrysler Toledo Machining Plant as a tool and die maker, retiring in 2000. Denny was a black belt in Judo and enjoyed the people of his club. Denny was interested in politics and enjoyed reading. Denny was an avid Notre Dame football fan and enjoyed going to games in South Bend. He also rooted for the Boston Celtics.

Denny is survived by his son, Scott (Diane) Taylor, of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandchildren, Drew Taylor and Brooke (Hunter) Hays; brothers, James (Monica) Taylor, and Lawrence (Janet) Brach; and brother-in-law, Rick (Barb) Meadows. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Taylor; and his son, Steven Taylor; his parents; as well as step-father, Charles Brach. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Catherine Coe.

Friends may visit the family at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a Scripture service at 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Clement Church or The Juvenile Diabetes Society.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Myrtle Beach Manor and Traditions Hospice for their compassionate care for Dennis.

Yesterday

Sending my condolences to the Taylor family. I am saddened to hear of Denny´s passing. He was such a kind man and I was lucky to have him apart of my life. Great memories were had at Denny´s & Shirley´s for Thanksgiving and that is something I will always treasure. I find comfort in knowing that he is at peace with Shirley & Steven. I won´t be able to travel back to Ohio but purchased a tree in his memory. Sending hugs, love, & support from afar.
