Dolores T.

Dolores T. Geronimo, age 85, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2015, while surrounded by her family.

She was born to Francisco and Mary (Gallegoes) Geronimo on April 8, 1930. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy and Maumee Valley Hospital Nursing School, where she was in the first graduating class. She spent her career working as a registered nurse at St. Vincent Hospital, the Medical College of Ohio and also spent time as a traveling nurse for the Federal Aviation Agency. She moved to Wake Island where she took care of military soldiers at their hospital base. Dolores was a member at St. James Church and SS. Peter & Paul Church. She enjoyed making homemade tortillas, tamales, gardening, shopping and loved traveling with her family. Dolores was a strong woman and devout Catholic. She instilled her beliefs, morals and values to her family that will never be forgotten.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Pascualita, Cruz, Ernestine, Betty, Robert, Richard and Raymond Geronimo. She is survived by her sisters, Virginia Irwin and Constance (Jesse) Rodriguez; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Rosie Geronimo; as well as many well loved nieces and nephews. She was an aunt to many but was a mother and grandmother to others who will forever cherish her memory.

Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Thursday, September 17 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, beginning at 9:15 a.m., in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at SS. Peter & Paul Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassionate care.

Miss Geronimo was one of my mentors back in 1973. I was a student nurse and she showed me much kindness and compassion. Such a beloved nurse! I am so sorry to learn of her passing.
