Donald J. Tober, 89, a long time resident of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023, one month shy of his 90th birthday. He was born in Toledo on November 29, 1933 to Fred and Helen (Kertesz). Donald married his lifelong partner of nearly 70 years, Jeannette (Pompos) on December 7, 1953.
He was employed with L.O.F. for 17 years before disability forced retirement in 1971. Donald and Jeanette made their home in Point Place in 1957 where they raised their 5 children. He enjoyed working in his garage, especially restoring his classic cars.
Donald is survived by his wife, Jeannette; his children, Debbi (Tom) Bauman, Tom (Ellen) Tober, Patti (Scott) Swy, Donald (Kryce) Tober, and Chris (Jen) Tober; grandchildren, Dawn Bauman, Erin (Ben) White, Christin (Pat) Walsh, Jeremy (Chelsea Owens) Tober; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Evelyn Tittle.
The family wishes to thank everyone involved in his care at Elizabeth Scott Nursing Community, with special thanks to Tina and Amy, as well as the caregivers from Hospice of NW Ohio, Haley, Megan and Kathy.
Funeral services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Elizabeth Scott Community or Hospice of NW Ohio. Coyle Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Please leave a condolence message at CoyleFuneralHome.com.

Mr Tober was a wonderful neighbor. I loved his free spirit & his candor! He was never afraid to say what he was thinking. He always watched out for our neighborhood. Sure do miss the good old days!

I am sorry to read about Don's passing! He and I used to chat on the phone frequently but not much recently. I have fond memories of our chats, miss them. I will keep Don and all of the family in my prayers. He was quite the chatacter! May he rest in peace.
