Dorothy Rollins Obituary

ROLLINS

Dorothy Klatt

Dorothy (Klatt) Rollins, born September 2, 1922, to Charles and Helen (Blochowiak) Klatt, died July 14, 2015, at 92 years, 10 months and 12 days old. She was born and raised in the same home - 1449 Tecumseh St. in Toledo, OH - where her mother had been born, the same home her grandparents, Matthew and Mary (Chrzanowski) Blochowiak had moved into when they immigrated from Rogowo, Poland in 1889.

She was the third child of five in her family. Deceased are 2 brothers, Leonard (Sultana) Klatt and Daniel Klatt. Daniel died in WWII in 1944 when only 23 years old. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Beatrice Zielinski and her brother, Robert Klatt and his wife, Kay.

Dorothy attended St. Anthony Grade School and Lincoln Grade School. She also attended Libbey High School. She married Gilbert Harry Rollins in the former St. Anthony Catholic Church on Junction Ave. on September 25, 1946. They were married 45 years. Gilbert died in 1991.

All 5 of their children survive, Darlene (Floyd) Simon, Carolyn (John) Walton, Philip Rollins, Kathleen (Lawrence) Zeman and Dennis Rollins. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Heather (David) Reynolds, Shawn (Denise) Simon, Robert Walton, Christopher (Danielle) Zeman, William (Mindi) Walton, Aaron (Shalissa) Simon, Paul (Masha) Simon, and Jennifer (Charles) Pantoja. In addition 19 great-grandchildren survive; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy worked during WWII in a glove factory in Toledo, OH. After marriage, she stayed at home many years to raise her and Gilbert's 5 children. In her later years, she worked at the Spitzer Building doing housekeeping. She also worked at Craftmaster on Westwood for a number of years.

Dorothy loved her garden and flowers. She loved working with her hands doing crafts, crocheting, and needlework for her family. She belonged many years to a sewing club with her sister, Beatrice and their friends from their early years. She loved to read. She was also active for a number of years in the Ladies Altar Society at St. Clement Catholic Church where she was a longtime parishioner. She especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren and their frequent visits. She was a very sweet lady and made friends easily. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we know she now is in the presence of Jesus because she was a woman of faith in Him.

Family and friends may visit on Monday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a Rosary/Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Clement Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

We wish to thank those many people who reached out to help and minister to Mom in these last years of her life. Thank you also to the very kind staff at Sunset Village who helped us and her.

I met Dorothy and Beatrice at a Craftmaster reunion Picnic held at Crosby Gardens in the late 90's. The picnic was organized by my neighbor, Gertrude Kubizc. It was Gerty that brought Dorothy's passing to my attention. Gerty shared some of the good times you all had together at work. These two sisters were like twins. They finished each others statements.
May Jehovah Gods Holy Spirit be with the family during this time.

Our sincere condolences to the family
The last time we visited with Dorothy was at my mom's (Florence Kruzel) 95th birthday party almost five years ago
We visited and had so much fun I am so glad we got to see her and Carolyn brought her to the party
She was always such a favorite of mine Her and Beatice were so very sweet
I know in my heart she is safe and at peace in the arms of Our Father
A mass will be said at my parish St Peter's in Newberg,Oregon in memory.
May God Bless you all and bring you comfort at this time.
Dorothy was so beautiful I loved the two pics then and now
Sincerely
Marie James and Florence Kruzel

I sure will miss my visits with Dorothy my next door neighbor. She would often sit outside in the summer and we shared a love for gardening and flowers. We had many chats she was full of wisdom and laughter. I know you are at peace now and with all the angels like yourself.RIH until we meet again.
