JOHNSON Duane "Dewey, Doc" Duane "Dewey, Doc" P. Johnson, one of the kindest men God ever chose to put on this earth, went to meet the Lord on March 28, 2012. He will be so sadly missed by his family and friends. He was born to Lillian and Charles Johnson on January 7, 1925, in Toledo, where he lived all his life. He was a 1943 graduate of Libbey High School. Upon graduation he went directly into the armed services where he spent 33 months in the United States Army, eighteen months of which were spent in Europe as a Medic. He was discharged as a Sergeant in April, 1945. Upon returning to Toledo, he enrolled at the University of Toledo, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. I knew Dewey from Libby High School, and we were in the same 1943 graduating class. Dewey was one of the "Jocks" and I was one of the "Nerds"! Later my wife Betty and I were Buttles Avenue neighbors of Dewey and Ann while he and I both attended graduate school at Ohio State in Columbus. Those were the "lazy, crazy, hazy, days of summer" for us as we would study all day and then play tennis on the nearby Goodale Park public courts! Dewey became a dentist and I later returned to Toledo as a Chemistry Lab Supervisor for LOF Glass Co. We also shared membership at Holy Trinity Lutheran as our kids grew up in the Heatherdowns Country Club neighborhood. Looks like Dewey accomplished a lot during his life, and left many good memories behind...may he now R.I.P.!
