Edward A. "Eddie" Auerbach

Edward A. "Eddie" Auerbach, age 87, formerly of Jackman Rd. and South Detroit Ave. in Toledo, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born on November 20, 1930 in Toledo, OH to Edward and Ethel (Baldwin) Auerbach. Eddie's places of employment included Casko Dog Food, Libbey Owens Ford, and GM Powertrain where he worked as an Inspector and Special Machinist for 45 years, retiring in 2007. A proud 25 year Veteran and Staff Sergeant 1st Class of the US Army, Eddie served two tours of duty in Korea and was the recipient of four Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion Conn Weissenberger Post 587, past President of the Korean War Vets Association Chapter 131, past Vice President of the State of Ohio Korean War Vets, and 2nd Vice President of the Lucas County Memorial Association. An avid reader and history buff, Eddie was also a huge fan of Ohio State and West Point Army "Black Knights" Football.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Ruth (Van Gutten) Auerbach; and brother, Frank Auerbach. He is survived by his honorary children, Roy and Edna Miller; honorary nieces, Jennifer (Lynn) Heyman, and Joni (Robert) Miller; stepdaughter, Brenda Szenderski; and stepsons, Pete, Royce, and Eric Badas.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Fr. Patrick J. Rohen presiding. The Lucas County Burial Corps will conclude with a Military Committal Service in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
