Edward Bambis Obituary

Edward G. Bambis, 92, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2005, in the Franciscan Care Center. He was born on February 22, 1913, in Pittsburgh to Edward and Emilie (Sontag) Bambis.
Edward was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh class of 1931, which was the first graduating class. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed in sales and management by the Standard Brands Co. which was purchased later by Nabisco, and then Kraft. He received many awards for his displays at various food fairs. He was a volunteer at Mercy Hospital for many years until its closing. Edward enjoyed the Big Bands and played the trumpet in a band in his younger years. He loved his home life, his yard, painting, and most importantly his family. Edward loved animals and was the best friend that birds and squirrels ever had.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rita, they would have celebrated their 32nd anniversary in October. Also surviving are his daughter, Joanne Taylor; granddaughters, Lorie Taylor, Robin (Tom) Hoag and Susan (Mike Keller) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Nichole, Michael, Cody and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Marie "Renee" Yulkey; sisters, Florence, Emilie, Marietta, and recently his son-in-law, Marvin Taylor in April.
Friends are invited to visit from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave., where scripture services will begin at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home immediately followed by the Mass of the Resurrection beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church, Franciscan Care Center, or the charity of the donor's choice.
