Edward Carl SCHMOLDT

SCHMOLDT Edward Carl Edward Carl Schmoldt, 84, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010. He was born on May 18, 1926, to Rhinehart and Martha Schmoldt. Edward was a 1944 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army, during WWII and was one of the Liberators for the Dachau Prison Camp. He had served as Past Commander of the Gibsonburg American Legion and on October 6, 2010, he was a passenger on the Honor Flight in Washington, D.C. Edward worked as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance for 30 years. In his younger years, he worked as a Policeman for the Gibsonburg Police Dept., L.O.F. and for Reino Dry Cleaning. He is survived by sons, Jeffrey Schmoldt and Michael (Debra) Schmoldt; grandchildren: Amber Hartford, Chad (Nicole) Schmoldt and Christina (Matt) Schmoldt; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Joseph Hartford. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elsie and grandson-in-law, Joe Hartford. Family and friends may visit Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon, on Friday, November 19, 2010, from 4-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in West Union Cemetery in Gibsonburg.
