Eileen Woods Obituary

Eileen Marie Woods

March 20, 1943 - September 25, 2025

Eileen Marie Woods, 82, of Oceanside, California, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on September 25, 2025.

Born on March 20, 1943, in Toledo, Eileen built a life defined by compassion, curiosity and devotion to family. She dedicated her career to nursing, serving in nearly every area of the field with wisdom and care, from the emergency room to medical insurance companies. She earned her bachelor's degree in criminology from Bowling Green State University and briefly worked as a private investigator after moving to California, where she enjoyed living for more than 30 years.

She was a gifted gardener, a world traveler, a committed volunteer with senior citizens and a lifelong supporter of the arts. She was also a gracious hostess and talented cook, passing down family recipes that continue to be cherished. Eileen never knew a stranger and had a gift for connection, making friends and bringing people together wherever she went. She delighted in the ocean and spent many years enjoying daily walks on the beach. Her family was her greatest source of pride and joy, and she was a devoted wife, mother and Busia (Polish for grandmother).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Pat McHaffie and Edward and Esther Roznoski; as well as her older brother, Ralph Roznoski. She is survived by her spouse, Lori Baker; daughters, Kim (Scott) Emch and Elise Josephine; grandchildren, Lydia Emch, Jared Emch, Bethany (Josh) Bylow, Jodie (Chris) Mildon and Allie (Justin) Zehender; and great-granddaughters, Hadley Mildon, Margot Mildon and Cadence Zehender; siblings, Carol Schnapp, Janice Roznoski, Kevin (Mary Kay) McHaffie.

Eileen spent her final years at Bayshire Carlsbad in the memory care unit, where she was lovingly cared for and visited by her family as she lived with Alzheimer's disease. Her family takes comfort knowing she is now whole and healed in heaven with God.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eileen's honor to the UC San Diego Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, where her organs were donated for research. https://neurosciences.ucsd.edu/centers-programs/adrc/giving.html

So many fond memories growing up and into early motherhood. Eileen was my coach when I delivered my daughter, Gretchen, 58 years ago. May you rest in peace.

Lori and Eileen were the first to greet us when we were visiting at Morgan Hill UMC. Their friendship and kindness are the reasons we are still members after 24 years. Eileen will be sorely missed!
