Elaine Hunter Obituary

Elaine Hunter, 75, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025. A 1968 graduate of Thomas A. DeVilbiss High School, Elaine was a devoted Christian, a lifelong lover of music and reading, and a faithful servant in her church and community.
She was a charter member of the University of Toledo Gospel Choir, the Unity Gospel Ensemble, and the Toledo Interfaith Mass Choir. Elaine was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church by Rev. S.M. Jordan and most recently served faithfully at Resurrection Baptist Church as Chairman of the Trustee Board, Financial Secretary, and member of the Praise Team.
Elaine retired in 2020 after 23 years with the Toledo Municipal Court, where she worked as Deputy Clerk of Courts and held several union leadership positions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Earl Sr. and Jane Anna Hunter; brothers, Frank Jr. and Dwight Hunter; sister, Ella Ray Henderson; and daughter, Breyan Elaine Hunter.
Surviving are her daughter, Branda Lynne Hunter; sister, Diane Hunter; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and coworkers.
Elaine will be remembered for her faith, kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
Wake service will be Saturday, October 18, 2025, 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service, 11:00 a.m., at Resurrection Baptist Church, 3360 Nebraska Avenue, Toledo, OH 43607, Pastor Randall Carter officiant. Interment, Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Dale-Riggs Funeral Home.

I worked with Elaine at the Toledo Municipal Court clerks office. Elaine was a devoted Union member and did represent our members by always questioning our benefits. I will always remember her as one of the sweetest people I have ever known. God has you now sweet lady. Rest in peace.

The last time I heard Elaine sing The song was shower down. She gave it her all. Rest on sis until we all get to the New Jerusalem.

Elaine is my 1st cousin. We shared many fun times at Family Reunion. We had a good laugh this summer. We reflected on our Aunt Robbie. She loved sitting in the lobby of the hotel. We would sit with her until she was ready to go to her room. We would ask her if she was ready and she said "No." We would end up falling asleep, but she didn't.
