Elizabeth Bierer Obituary

Elizabeth Leslie Bierer

Elizabeth Leslie Bierer passed away on December 18, 2017 at the Goerlich Center surrounded by her family after a long bout with vascular dementia which was complicated by a bout of Alzheimers and Parkinsons which she fought with grace, courage, and determination for 17 years.

She was born in Uniontown, PA on 3/30/1941 to Emmitt and Margaret Baker. She graduated from Uniontown High School in 1959 and was a member of National Honor Society. Liz took college courses at the famous Artist School of Wilton, Conn, and graduated in 1964 as a commercial artist.

Liz was a talented person with many interests and skills in many things. She excelled in everything she did especially as a musician playing the clarient in the band, orchestra and the symphonic wind ensamble, and she was invited to be a member of the Pennsylvania State Concert band in 1959. Her interests took her into dancing, especially ballet where she has danced from childhood. She won a modeling contest in Pittsburgh as a teenager. She was excellent with all kinds of crafts, pottery, painting, portraits, playing tennis, belonging to the Toledo Figure Skating Club, the Blowing Green Figure skating Club and was also a member of the toledo Artists Club. Her interests took her into gardening and growing flowers around the home and she also had a great love of reading with many books read to her credit.

In September 1963, Liz married her childhood friend Ronald Bierer known from the fourth grade. She both designed and hand made her wedding dress along with the bridesmaid dresses. Immediately following the wedding, the couple moved to Toledo, OH where they have resided since.

Liz worked primarily out of her home as a fashion illustrator for various publications designing and producing logos for various companies while also silkscreening and printing business cards, greeting cards, Christmas cards, and creating oil portraits of animals for customers. Some of her paintings were exhibitied at local banks in art exhibitions.

Later in life, she worked in admission for several engineering companies in the Toledo area and for a few doctors' offices. She also assisted in delivering Mobile Meals for many years.

Liz was an avid environmentalist/naturalist and animal supporter and their rescue groups. She even had her own rescue operation for a while and loved all animals, especially her cats.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother (Private First Class) William Sisler; and her sister Lucinda Sisler.

Liz is survived by her loving husband Ron of 54 years; her nephews William (Hunada), David (Brenda) Sisler; great niece Lucinda; and great nephew Alex Sisler.

Liz has donated her body to the University of Toledo, College of Medicine to further their research in the science of medicine. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation or services.

A very special thank you to Dr. Mark Fine and his staff for all the years he was Liz's physician and expecially for the care they gave Liz during her difficult years. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Goerlich Center and the Hospice of Promedica for the care and love they gave to Liz.
