Elizabeth Vera Oster
Today we celebrate and mourn the greatest woman we know: born Elizabeth Vera Oster (married: Sondergeld) on October 21, 1909. Better known as Vera or GG to her son, Ronald L. Sondergeld and daughter-in-law, Paula Gratcl Sondergeld; 3 grandchildren, Thomas Sondergeld (Sean Brosnan), Susan Jilek and Debra Obert (Rick); 5 great-grandchildren, Alex, Kristen and Erica Jilek, Zachary Obert, Alyssa Amazzalorso, and many friends.
We know we were made better by her presence and move on as she would want. To GG, Vera, mom, our matriarch, our center, we say goodbye and may you rest in peace with your sisters, Mabel Reeves and Gertrude Mowery.
While today is a sad day for our family, it is also a day to celebrate the woman she was. She lived through two world wars, the Great Depression, 19 U.S. Presidents, and many other great events of that time period. Vera survived her husband of sixty years, Harold, visited the Fountain of Youth in St. Augustine, Florida three times, was Executive Secretary at Craftmaster Corp. for many years and owner of a Tastee Freeze on the East Side of Toledo. She was an avid reader and recently resided at Alexis Gardens Retirement Village where she made many new friends.
Visitation at the Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home will begin on Sunday, December 28, 2014, from 2-8 p.m., where services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment. Elliston Cemetery, Graytown, Ohio.
A special thank you to The nurses and doctors in the CICU at The Toledo Hospital, and the nurses at Ebeid Hospice. Contributions can be made to Ebeid Hospice.

Ron and Paula, So sorry to read of Vera's passing. Dad always spoke so fondly of her. I remember visiting the apartment over near Monroe street when I was young--such a warm heart. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Keeping everyone in our prayers

To Ron, Paula, Tom, Sue and Deb. I want you to know what a honor it was to know your Gigi for a little while. Those dancing, bright eyes gave away what a special person you all had. What class, style and aplomb were held in that soul. I know the hurt of losing someone this special and pray that God will comfort you as the days go by and that all the mighty things her legacy left behind will shine even brighter through you all. God is with you.

Dear Ron,
I have many fond memories of your dad, mother, and your grandmother and our growing up together. I loved to go up to Round Lake in Michigan to your mom & dads cottage. I will never forget the beautiful handmade shirt your grandmother made for me and the excellent food your mom provided.
