Gerald "Jerry" A. Sondergeld

July 2, 1952 - February 6, 2024

Gerald "Jerry" A. Sondergeld, 71, of Temperance, Michigan, and formerly of Petersburg, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Born July 2, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of Arthur and Marjorie (Treter) Sondergeld. Jerry was a 1970 graduate from Elmore High School, Elmore Ohio. He then graduated from General Motors Institute (Kettering) in Flint, Michigan, with a Bachelor's of Science in mechanical engineering. Jerry married Jane M. Castle on March 27, 1976. He was employed at General Motors for 40 years, retiring in 2009. Jerry enjoyed working with his hands, with woodworking, machining, constructing model engines, fishing, and he also enjoyed traveling with his family. He was a member of the Monroe Street United Methodist Church in Toledo.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jane; sons, Ryan (Kelli) Sondergeld, Jason (Kathryn) Sondergeld, and Jonathan Sondergeld; brother, Wiliam (Stacy) Sondergeld, and Sue (Terry) Parsil; grandchildren, Nicolas (9), Ember (6), Adalyn Sondergeld (4), and Nadia Vajen (24). He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m, Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Association for Autism and Neurodiversity or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. https://www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org/
