Elliot Latez Obituary

LATEZ Elliot Elliot Latez of Needham, MA and originally of Toledo, OH, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA, following a brief illness. He was 87. Born in Toledo, OH, the son of Benjamin and Mollie Fagan Latez, he was a graduate of Jessup W. Scott High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII in the Pacific Theatre, marrying the former Hilda Schulman, also of Toledo, OH, who preceded him in death in 1997. His career in retail clothing spanned several decades, including Miller Clothing which he co-owned with his brother-in-law, Irving Miller and later with the former Topps and Tiedtke's Department Stores. He was also a co-owner of the former Sunningdale Country Club. His memberships included Congregation Etz Chayim and its Men's Club, Goldstein-Goodman VFW Post 6909 and the R.A.C. Also preceding him besides his wife and parents are his son, Glenn Latez. Surviving are daughter, Diane (Richard) Mason of Newton, MA; sister, Sarah (Irving) Miller; daughter-in-law, Jeannette Latez of Elmore, OH; grandchildren, Justin (Michelle) Latez, Jennifer Latez and Emily Mason; also 3 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Ross and Doris Davis; brothers-in-law, Dr. Ailon Shiloh and Harry Schulman. Services and interment will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Beth Shalom Cemetery, Oregon, OH. Memorial tributes suggested in the form of contributions to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation and Congregation Etz Chayim. Arrangements by the Robert H. Wick/Wisniewski Funeral Home, 419-535-5840.

Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USCG in the Pacific during WW II fighting the Japanese and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
