Eugene BOLTE Obituary

BOLTE Eugene V. "Gene" Eugene V. "Gene" Bolte, 89, of Port Clinton, died October 27, 2010 at Commons of Providence, Sandusky, OH. He was born April 1, 1921 in Moline, IL the son of the late Jack and Ann (Drusbacky) Bolte. He married Marguerite "Peg" Cooper on April 27, 1946 and she survives. Gene was the former owner of Bolte Real Estate and Insurance Agency, Inc in Port Clinton retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Port Clinton, OH, Perry Lodge 341 F & A. M., Sandusky Chapter R.A.M.; past master of Sandusky City Council #26 R. S. M.; Erie Commandery K.T.; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo; Zenobia Shrine, Toledo; Royal Order of Jesters Court #21, Toledo; Charter Member of BPO Elks Lodge # 1718 of Port Clinton; Port Clinton American Legion Post 113; Port Clinton V. F. W. Post 2488, past president of Port Clinton Rotary Club and Past Commodore of Port Clinton Yacht Club. Mr. Bolte was an active member of the Catawba and Port Clinton Community Affairs. He was a past president of the Catawba Island Chamber of Commerce, past board member of the Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce, original member of the Catawba Island Zoning Committee. He was a past president of the Ottawa County Insurance Association, past president of the Ottawa County Board of Realtors. He was a United States Army World War II veteran serving in the European Theatre Operations with General George Patton's 3rd Army. He received 5 Battle Clusters and retired with the rank of Captain. Surviving are his wife, Peg; daughter, Cindy Bolte of Port Clinton; sons, John H. (Gerri) Bolte of Tiffin, David A. (Lynn) Ried of Johannsburg, South Africa; grandchildren, Phillip Bolte of Port Clinton, Renee (Cory) Stine of Port Clinton, John H. Bolte IV, PHD of Columbus; great-grandchildren, John H. Bolte V, Luke Bolte, Ty Bolte, McKenzie Stine and Cooper Stine. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Port Clinton. With Rev. Micael Wiechers officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, OH. Burial will be in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St Thomas Episcopal Church or Stein Hospice. On line condolences may be shared with the family at: www.neideckerleveckcrosser.com
