Eugene Czerniawski Obituary

Eugene Czerniawski

You are my husband. My feet shall run because of you. My feet shall dance because of you. My heart shall beat because of you. My eyes see because of you. My mind thinks because of you. And I shall love because of you. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Gene fought on! Until the end, his body was tired and ready to rest. He was our World!! Eugene Mark Czerniawski entered Heaven on November 7, 2024, of Toledo, Ohio, at the age of seventy-five, surrounded and held by his family. He was born July 15, 1949, in Hanover, Germany. Arriving in America at the age of three. He served his country honorably and courageously as a Green Beret Special Forces Operation and Intelligence soldier in Vietnam, after attending West Point Military Prep Academy. Although like most Green Berets he downplayed his position. He was a humble and courageous man. He had a BA from The University of Toledo as well as an electrical degree.

Gene was a man with a heart of gold. He would help anybody and everyone with no hesitation and no questions asked. He loved deeply and with his whole heart asking nothing in return. His laughter, hugs and embrace were unmatchable. Gene was proud of his family. He taught his nephews the true meaning of being a man, as well as how to fix anything. He enjoyed traveling everywhere. He loved to tell jokes and play cards with his mom, brother, and sister for hours on end. Spending time with his son on walks, working out and watching Jeopardy and being correct. Reading, talking on the phone to his grandsons. Sitting on the porch and enjoying the weather year-round, making his favorite Bortsch soup. Rode his bike daily without fail. Holidays, cookouts, and pool time spent with family and friends were special and important times to him. We will miss you every minute of every day, until we are together again.

With immense sorrow he leaves his devoted wife of 41 years, Judy; two sons, Nickolaus (Beth) Richmond, TX Eugene II (Kaylyn) of Toledo; grandsons, William, Nicholaus: brother, George Czerniawski; sisters in law, Linda Hanley and Sylvia Hernandez; his faithful loving companion dog, Phaddy; numerous nieces, and nephews. Welcoming him with loving arms are his parents, Nicolai and Wiera; brothers, Frederick, John; and sister, Alexandra.

Visitation and final Goodbyes, Thursday, November 21, 4-8, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419)-473-0300). Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiated by Pastor George Czerniawski with Military honors.
