Frances Aliapoulos Obituary

ALIAPOULOS Frances N. Frances N. Aliapoulos passed away peacefully March 23, 2008, at Sunset Village surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 12, 1917, to Nicholas and Aphrodite Moulopoulos. Franny was a wonderful artist working in tempera doing portraits and still life. She graduated from Scott High School and entered Toledo University where she graduated with a BS degree in art. She taught art at the Toledo Museum of Art. In 1942, she met the love of her life William "Bill" Aliapoulos. After Bill's discharge from the army they married in 1945. Shortly after they married Franny began having difficulty with her eyes. In 1949 their first child, Elaine was born and four years later they had their second daughter, Jodi. Although her eyesight was failing she did everything she could for her family. She always encouraged the girls in all they would do. She loved Bill and her two daughters dearly and was a supportive and loving mother and wife. Franny had two granddaughters, Kristi and Alexandra whom she loved very much. She had a wonderful sense of humor telling jokes to friends and family. As it became more difficult to paint Franny used her hands making satin roses. She gave her precious roses to friends, family and acquaintances. She had a heart of gold, was generous to everyone, and was loved by all who knew her. Throughout their marriage Bill and Franny were inseparable. They went everywhere together making friends wherever they went. They had a beautiful marriage of 63 years. Franny was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Daughters of Penelope. She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughters, Elaine (George) Scarvelis, Jodi (Dan) Frutiger; brother, Charles and granddaughters, Kristi and Alexandra. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Georgia and Bess. Mom, you were the best mother anyone could ever have. You gave us your strength, your darling sense of humor, your artistic talent, and most of all your love. You will live on in our hearts and we will never forget you. Franny, you were the love of my life and my beautiful rose. I will always love you with all my heart. Visitation will be Thursday, March 27, 2008, from 2-8 p.m. at Ansberg West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave. Trisagion prayers begin at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 802 N. Superior. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The family would like to thank Sunset Village for their caring support.
