Frances Wilson Obituary

Frances C. Wilson

The Lord called Frances C. ("Frannie" or "Flip") Wilson, 91 formerly of Toledo, Ohio home on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Surrounded by family and under the compassionate care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Sylvania, Frances passed from this life peacefully to her eternal one. She was born January 16, 1933 in Elmore, Ohio to the late Ray and Edna (Wendt) Johns. She was a 1951 graduate of Salem-Oak Harbor High School and received her Certificate of Nursing from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1954. On June 25, 1955, Frannie married Clyde Tank. They were proud parents of Tim and Jeff. Clyde preceded her in death on November 12, 1975. Frances worked as a registered nurse for St. Luke's Hospital and would later work for Dr. Tallmage's office, both in Toledo. On October 28, 1978, she wed Rev. Thomas Wilson, to whom she was married for thirty-five years until his passing on October 30, 2013.

Frannie lived a beautifully full life. As a pastor's wife, she held memberships at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Blackberry, Ohio and Bethel Lutheran Church, Toledo, Ohio. She loved worshipping the Lord and sharing in fellowship with both congregations, whom she treated like extended family. Frances taught Sunday school and was active in many other church activities, serving in various capacities over the years. With a personality and heart much larger than her petite frame, Frannie was gregarious and warm, always had a story to tell, and never met a stranger. She enjoyed traveling with the Women of the Church, tending to her flowers, "Happy Hour", her retirement bus trips and sending family and friends celebratory cards throughout the year with thoughtful, heartfelt messages. Above all the roles she filled throughout her life, Frannie cherished being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Frances is deeply missed, but her legacy of faithful service to the Lord will live on through her survivors, including her son, Jeff (Jackie) Tank; daughter-in-law, Becky Tank; step-children: Tom Wilson, and Peggy Deames; grandchildren: Jason (Stephanie) Tank, Justin (Kerri) Tank, Austin (Jade Maynard) Tank, and Kyle Tank; step-grandchildren: Brian (Marian) Deames, Katelyn (Dean) Garn, and Hollyn Wohali; great-grandchildren: Owen, Everett, Audrey, Levi, and Violet; step-great-grandchildren: Veronica, Tate, Leon, and Scarlet; sister, Faye (Daniel) Rife; sisters-in-law, Karen Johns and Sally Johns; brother-in-law, Larry Anderson; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend Shirley Pawlinkski. In addition to Clyde and Tom, Frannie was preceded in death by her son, Tim Tank; siblings: Elwood "Butch" Johns, Karen Sue Anderson, Dewilt "Bud" Johns, Gerald "Jerry" Johns, Joan Siefke, and Barbara Sprouse.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Frances's life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 31, 2024 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Blackberry with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. until the service begins. Burial will be in Elliston Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Bethel Lutheran Church, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
